At 50 years of age he was at the pinnacle of his career. He had a 4-bedroom house, a young wife and two lovely children. The engineering company he had started eight years ago had become a great success and had annualized income of over a Million Dollars a year. He was well respected in the community and had high visibility as he was involved as a consultant on every civil engineering project in the area. It had taken years of hard work to realize his dreams and finally he was there to reap the rewards. Two years later his life was in ruins. His wife wanted a divorce. He lost his business to the recession and had to take bankruptcy. Then his only sibling died. Over a short period of time he lost all his possessions and those dear to him. He was alone and isolated in a foreign land without any form of moral support. The losses sent him into the darkest place on earth, his own mind, confronting the ghosts that inhabited it and looking for answers. As a manic depressive with many addictions, the recovery of self and road to freedom was long and arduous. Until the world collapsed around him he had never questioned anything he had said or done in his life. Now everything came back to him slowly and kept him in the swamps. He started a diary at the beginning of this emotional turmoil which lasted for almost six years. The book captures his entire life as he remembers it, and the diaries are detailed almost from day to day as he finds his way through the jungle to emotional freedom, shedding his alcohol and sex addictions, and getting closure with his mother.
