This was a book I couldn't put down!! The chapters alternate between Victoria as a ten year foster child and her life after emancipation at age 18. The young child learns communication through the language of flowers, developing a gift that delivers her from homelessness and hopelessness. A great read!!

Smart country girl stands up to wily shape-shifter. Scary but not too scary. After a read-aloud, my second graders coveted this book so much that a sign-up sheet became necessary. One of my all-time favorites.

It was hard to finish this book because it caused me to laugh and cry hysterically. Embarrassing after a while. So I'd only read it when alone. Just photos and captions, perfect for those familiar with hoarders and oddball collectors. I can't write anymore. I'm laughing again.
