Phonics Monster - Book 5 offers a comprehensive introduction to advanced phonics "special sounds" that often must be memorized because they do not always follow phonics "rules" (war/wor, tion, ar/er/ir/or/ur, etc.). Each new sound is introduced with an extensive word list and several sentences, which are followed by various activities such as tongue twisters, speed-reading exercises, games, stories, and review quizzes and worksheets. There are several lengthy reading passages and stories which allows students to practice and review the sounds that they have learned. Included throughout the book are several full-color monster illustrations.
