Come meet Jeremy McCarter, the co-author of the book behind the Broadway phenomenon, Hamilton! Jeremy will join us in-store for a reading, Q&A, and signing.
Hamilton: The Revolution traces the blockbuster musical Hamilton’s development from an improbable performance at the White House to its landmark opening night on Broadway six years later. Lin-Manuel Miranda and Jeremy McCarter’s account features photos, exclusive looks at notebooks and emails from the writing process, interviews with Questlove, Stephen Sondheim, and leading political commentators, and multiple appearances by President Obama and others. The book does more than tell the surprising story of how a Broadway musical became a national phenomenon: it demonstrates that America has always been renewed by the brash upstarts and brilliant outsiders, the men and women who don't throw away their shot.
Jeremy McCarter was involved in the production of Hamilton from its earliest stages. He spent five years on the artistic staff of the Public Theater in New York, where he created and directed the Public Forum series of performances and conversations. He also directed the Public’s 2016 gala performance in Central Park. Before joining the Public, he wrote cultural criticism for Newsweek and New York Magazine. He is finishing a book about young American radicals, which will be published next year. He lives with his family in Andersonville.
