Katherine will talk about Harper Lee's legacy, the controversy over her second book, Scout as a hero for women and girls, and the enduring impact of To Kill a Mockingbird on American culture and politics. Katherine Don is a Chicago-based journalist, author, and freelance book editor whose writing has appeared at Salon, The Huffington Post, The Atlantic online, Bustle, and other media outlets. She is the author or co-author of eight nonfiction books, and her first screenplay, a short film that she co-wrote with a friend, was the first-place winner in the screenwriting category at the 2014 Los Angeles Movie Awards.
