Book Launch: THROWING THE CROWN by JACOB SAENZ

 

Please join us in celebrating the launch of Throwing the Crown by Jacob Saenz, winner of the Honickman First Book Award from the American Poetry Review, selected by Pulitzer Prize winner Gregory Pardlo. Saenz will read with Krista Franklin and Fred Sasaki.
 
Jacob Saenz is the author of Throwing the Crown, winner of the 2018 APR/Honickman First Book Prize, selected by Gregory Pardlo. His work has appeared in PANK, Poetry, Spoon River Poetry Review and other journals. A CantoMundo fellow, he’s been the recipient of a Letras Latinas Residency and a Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship. He serves as an associate editor for RHINO.
 
Krista Franklin is a writer and visual artist whose work has appeared in Poetry, The Offing, Black Camera, Copper Nickel, Callaloo, BOMB Magazine, and the anthologies The End of Chiraq, BreakBeat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop and Gathering Ground. She is the author of Study of Love & Black Body (Willow Books) and the forthcoming Under the Knife (Candor Arts).
 
Fred Sasaki is the author of Real Life Emails (Tiny Hardcore Press) and producer of Chicago's famous SASAKI FAMILY ZINE SERIES featuring true facts and legendary secrets.
 
Our store is wheelchair accessible, however our bathrooms are not--there is a narrow hallway and sharp 90-degree turn on the way to our bathrooms.
