Lynn Kanter

7:30 p.m.

Her Own Vietnam

Reading and Signing

In this meticulously researched novel, Della Brown, a U.S. Army nurse, confronts buried wartime memories and unresolved family issues. Praised by Jill McCorkle for its "great emotion and insight," this unflinching depiction of war and its personal cost is also a portrait of a woman of the baby boom generation reaching midlife. Lynn Kanter is a novelist and lifelong activist for feminist and other social justice causes. Her Own Vietnamis based on years of research and interviews with women Vietnam veterans, many of whom had kept their military service a secret. Kanter's previous novels include The Mayor of Heaven and On Lill Street. She was born and raised in Chicago, but currently lives in Washington, D.C. with her wife.
