In-person Event: Hanukkah Storytime!

Join us for in-person Hanukkah storytime with musical accompaniment on Friday, December 16th at 10:30am in the store! Pre-registration is required for all attending, including children. Masks are required for anyone 2yrs and up.

Our reader will be Julie Wernick! Julie (they/them) is a Jewish educator, cat parent, and community organizer. Julie teaches the 2nd-3rd grade class at a Jewish educational program and loves to explore big bold Jewish questions and ideas with kids. In their free time, Julie plays guitar in a punk band, organizes with the Japanese American abolitionist group Nikkei Uprising, and loves to have fun with their friends!

Musical accompaniment will be led by Steven Chaitman! Steven is a Jewish song leader who brings inspiring, mindful and joyful singing to Jewish communities of all shapes and ages in Chicago and throughout the United States. For the past 18 years, Steven has worked with dozens of synagogues and organizations to build and strengthen community through song. In 2019, Steven released his first studio recordings of original Jewish music, Awake, Arise & Sing, a series of three EPs showcasing a dynamic range of musical styles and creative interpretations of Jewish text. Steven grew up and worked as a songleader at OSRUI, a Reform Jewish camp in Wisconsin. He lives in Andersonville with his partner, Mollie, and their kids, Ilan and Tal.
